Endymion House, described as ”An Art Deco jewel in the heart of the Lake District” has won the Crittall House of the Year Award 2022. Victoria (the owner) approached Crittall Windows who directed her to us prior to buying the property to discuss window repair or replacements. It was really important to them that the windows were sympathetic to the Art Deco feel of the house. After meeting Danny and discussing options, they decided to order Homelight Plus windows in the old standard sizes, even though this would eat in to their budget. This was a like for like replacement, although the originals were single glazed it was decided that double glazing would be better but with the cosmetic bars to keep the 19mm glazing bars as close to the originals as possible.
We re-established the elegance of the art deco aesthetic in the period property that had faded over time. By installing Crittall windows and doors throughout, we emphasised the original charm while enhancing the functionality and aesthetic appeal of the space. This thoughtful restoration pays homage to the architectural style while ensuring modern efficiency and durability.
The glazing bars frame the beautiful views of the Lake District with an elegant structure that enhances the natural scenery. These architectural features not only provide support but also serve to accentuate the picturesque landscape, creating a harmonious blend between the built environment and the surrounding vistas.
